Lørenskog Municipality, near Oslo, Norway, is facing high population growth, while aiming to meet the municipal objective of facilitating transport growth without using cars running on fossil fuels. In that context, COWI prepared a green mobility plan for the municipality to pave the way for more environmentally friendly mobility.
The new mobility plan, COWI has made, covers both long-term and short-term measures. The measures were based on a number of analyses of, e.g., current travel patterns, bicycle and pedestrian traffic, public transport, parking and, not least, vast input from citizens and other stakeholders.
Special priority is given to measures that promote green behaviour with citizens, for instance by making it easy to go by public transport, by bike or by foot, and by planning for short distances between urban functions such as shopping, school, gyms and public transport.
